Training

My Initial Training in Integrative Psychotherapy

I studied and graduated from the renowned Regents University. This initial training was integrative, which means that I learnt how to use several therapeutic traditional models which can be applied depending on clients’ needs.

Of the different approaches taught during this initial integrative core training, my interest oriented towards psychodynamic and most specifically attachment theory. Attachment-based therapy explores how childhood experiences impact the ability to bond as adults. I find that using this approach often helps clients rebuild trust in relationships and addresses relationship difficulties stemming from the dysregulation of early attachment especially in case of traumatic events during childhood.

Further Training to Treat Trauma and Dissociation (PTSD & C-PTSD)

Following the completion of my initial qualification I decided to pursue further my interest in trauma and attachment disorders by completing the first two levels of the sensorimotor psychotherapy training. Sensorimotor psychotherapy is a body-based therapy, integrating the latest findings from neuroscience, principles of mindfulness and somatic intervention in order to transform traumatic memories into strengths and resources for the client. It is an approach that is especially effective with developmental trauma (i.e. childhood trauma), traumatic events occurring during adulthood (such as sexual, physical or verbal abuse, accidents) and dissociative disorders. Working mindfully and collaboratively with clients facilitates the processing of traumatic memories and the emotional dysregulation that accompanies them.

I have also completed a Post Graduation certificate in Attachment.

I regularly attend training and CPDs (Continuous Professional Development). My aim is to keep up to date with the latest research and findings in therapeutic treatments, more particularly for Trauma and Dissociation.
